CENTRAL Visayas Football Association (CVFA) followed up its impressive tournament opener with another huge win on Friday, June 23, 2023, in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Under-19 National Championships Division 1 at the Dynamic Herb Sports Complex in Talisay City, Cebu.
CVFA came from behind and beat Zamboanga del Norte Dipolog FA (Zandifa), 3-1.
CVFA conceded an early goal from Ramill Bation III in the 19th minute. But Cebu quickly catched up and scored the equalizer compliments of Theo Libarnes.
It was in the second, CVFA took the lead after Nathan Pumajera scored the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute from a penalty kick. It was followed by another goal by Libarnes for a brace in the 68th minute.
Meanwhile, Panay FA also logged its second win in the tournament with a dominant 5-1 victory over Camiguin-Misamis Oriental Regional Football Association (Cmorfa).
Panay FA led early with a goal by John Calmada in the 10th minute. Cmorfa, however, equalized after Julius Galeon hit the back of the net in the 44th minute. Francis Botarava gave Panay FA the lead with a goal in added time before halftime. From then on it was all Panay FA, they scored three goals in the last 10 minutes of the match -- Michael Celiz in the 80th, Carlo Lustan in the 83rd and Calmada in the 90th minute.
On the other hand, Socsargen FA settled for a 1-1 draw with Davao-South Regional Football Association (DRFA).
Roent Sia gave DRFA the early advantage with a sixth minute goal. But Ody Pusoc answered just right before halftime with a 45th minute goal.
CVFA is still at the top of Group B with six points, followed by Panay FA also with six points but behind on goal difference. Socsargen dropped to third with four points, followed by DRFA with a point. Cmorfa is still at fifth place with no points, while Zandifa is last also with no points and behind on goal difference. / EKA
