A DRUG personality was killed in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Sunday, June 25, 2023.
Police Colonel Glenn Dulawan, Zamboanga del Norte police director, identified the slain drug suspect as Faizal Cailo, 57, a resident of Sitio Langga, Sta. Maria village, Siocon town.
Dulawan said Cailo was killed in a shootout around 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 24, in Kauswagan village, Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte.
He said the shootout ensued after Cailo opened fire, prompting the undercover policeman to return fire hitting the suspect.
Dulawan said Cailo opened fire after he sensed that he was transacting illegal drugs with an undercover policeman.
He said the policeman was unscathed since he was wearing a bulletproof vest.
The suspect was rushed to a hospital in Siocon but was declared dead by the attending physician.
He said seized from Cailo were a chamber-loaded caliber .45 pistol, with one magazine loaded with three live ammunition, a motorboat, a cellular phone, a gram of suspected shabu worth P6,800, a sling bag, P500 marked money and other illegal drug paraphernalia. (SunStar Zamboanga)
