CPPO to sue groups involved in Tabuelan disco brawl

THE two groups that started the brawl at a disco party held during the Tabuelan town fiesta on Saturday, June 24, 2023, will be sued by the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

The young people clashed, as shown in a phone video that was uploaded to social media.

One of the two suspects arrested by the police, Cebu Technological University student Marlou Rebato, 22, denied starting the melee, saying his cousin just warned the young people from Sitio Matnog, Tuburan town, because they swiped at each other while dancing.

Rebato said his relatives and friends joined the brawl that soon broke out, but they were apprehended by responding policemen.

“Basta disco dili gyud malikayan nga naa gyuy saghid-saghid, ang pikas grupo dili sad palupig, gibadlong ni sila sa akung ig-agaw kay ang ilang sayaw naka saghid na kay basin makadasmag na pud,” Rebato said.

(It was inevitable that someone would get hit at a disco, the other group refused to be outdone; my cousin just reprimanded them because their dance was too rough and they might hit again).

Police Major Mariegin Encio, information officer of the Cebu Police Provincial Office, said that because there is a complainant they will file a case against the suspects for alarm and scandal and disobedience to person of authority.

Because of this, all municipal police station chiefs throughout the province have been ordered to deploy their men both outside and inside the disco to avoid a repeat of the tragedy. (AYB, TPT )
