THE Davao Region’s celebration of Eid al-Adha was “generally peaceful” as there were no untoward incidents reported, authorities say.

Both Police Regional Office - Davao Region (PRO-Davao) and Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokespersons said the activity is “generally peaceful”.

For DCPO spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Tuazon, she said their office had already prepared security measures ahead of time as they designate station commanders to lead monitoring during the activity.

“All station commanders gina-designate na na sa atong city director Police Major Alberto Paña Lupaz to monitor the activity, para malikay sa mga kasamok, naa dayon ang pulis dinha (All station commanders are designated to monitor the activity under our city director in order to prevent disturbances, with the police present there),” Tuazon said during the AFP-PNP Press Corps press conference, June 28.

Meanwhile, PRO-Davao spokesperson Police Major Catherine Dela Rey said they had not also monitored any threat throughout the region in this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration.

“We are monitoring the activities of the Eidl al adha, so far [the celebration is] peaceful, hopefully matapos yung araw na (we hope the day ends with) joyous ang celebration,” Dela Rey said.

Dabawenyo Muslim brothers and sisters had also celebrated Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice along Roxas Avenue in Davao City.

Eid al-Adha is a Muslim festival marking the culmination of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorating the sacrifice of Abraham. ICE
