Fight against illegal real estate agents launched

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Several professional real estate groups in the region have partnered with various government agencies to curb the operations of unlicensed real estate agents in the province.

Philippine Real Estate Service (PhilRES) and National Real Estate Association forged a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and other government agencies for the creation of Regional Task Force Anti-Colorum on Real Estate.

PhilRES President Ma. Elena Reyes said unregistered real estate agents and developers have been victimizing Kapampangans, especially overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

“Dahil dumadami ang development dito sa Pampanga, naeenganyo na mag-invest ang mga kabalen natin, lalo na mga OFWs. Ang problema, pag-uwi nila ay hindi tapos or worse, walang maipakitang property sa clients,” she said.

Reyes reminded buyers to transact with registered real estate brokers to avoid being victims of the modus.

“Hanapin po parati ang valid PRC IDs bago makipagtransact para masiguro na legitimate ang magiging transaction,” she said.

The memorandum of agreement signed on Friday morning is aimed at strengthening the implementation of Republic Act No. 9646 or the Real Estate Service Act of the Philippines.

The law penalizes unregistered agents or brokers who sell real estate properties without proper credentials.
