ASEZ WAO holds coastal cleanup in Opol

MEMBERS of a young adult worker volunteer group, Save the Earth from A to Z, We Are One Family (Asez Wao), has recently conducted a Coastal Clean Up Campaign in Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Asez Wao is an international volunteer organization of young adult workers from the World Mission Society Church of God aims to resolve human problems, such as climate change, environmental pollution, human rights, crime, economic and educational imbalance, and racial discrimination.

According to General Pastor Kim Joo-Cheol of the World Mission Society Church of God, the Coastal Clean Up Campaign is one of the environmental cleanup activities that Asez Wao has been conducting throughout the globe. It aims to protect and preserve the environment.

The event was participated in by 120 volunteers who collected trash from the coast of the beach, around a 1.2 km stretch from the coast of Baybayon to Marvilla Beach Resort.

In around two hours, the volunteers were able to collect a total of 200 kg of garbage and 7,500 liters of plastic.

The officials of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (Menro) of Opol, who also joined the cleanup activity, commended the volunteers for their efforts and dedication in protecting and preserving the natural resources of the municipality.

A certificate of recognition was awarded by Menro to Asez Wao to express their gratitude for the organization's initiative in conducting the said activity.

Apart from environmental protection activities, Asez Wao has conducted various other humanitarian activities, such as delivering snacks and handwritten letters to support healthcare workers in hospitals, medical centers, and public health agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recognition of their efforts in various fields, such as educational support, welfare promotion, disaster relief and cultural exchange, they have received awards, including the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award (the highest honor given to groups), the Green Apple Award, UK Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service etc.
