VMA @50: 514 Cadets graduate, launched for shipboard training

A TOTAL of 514 graduates of the VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. successfully attained their diplomas in diverse fields recently

The cadets finished their Bachelor of Science degrees in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, Hospitality Management, Tourism, and Business Administration with a specialization in Financial Management.

PCGA Commodore Alexander Abilo, President of OSM Shipping Philippines and Captain of the Philippine Navy (Reserve), imparted words of wisdom in his commencement address to the graduates, “You were molded and trained by this institution to achieve greater heights and attain integrity through honesty and dedication to persevere until the end.”

“You are the young men and women who are empowered to soar high and conquer the rough seas to bring honor to your parents, your institution, your country, and above all, to God,” Abilo said.

Lead launching officer Captain Edgardo Baratang of K Line Philippines also encouraged the graduates to always be at their best.

Baratang emphasized the importance of staying updated with the latest global trends and the evolving maritime industry landscape.

As their partner in government, he vows to ensure the world-class competency and professionalism of Filipino seafarers through high-quality education and training.

The maritime graduates were launched into their on-board ship job training by the commencement speakers Abilo and Baratang, along with Captain Leopoldo Tenorio, the President of Marlow Navigation with CM Joemar Masacote, Senior Crewing Manager and Jane Florentino representing Capt Hernani Fuesca, Director and Advisor of Leonis Navigation.

PCGA Commodore Elizabeth Salabas, VMA President, led the graduation ceremonies, while Chairperson Atty. Juan Orola Jr. presided over the launching ceremony.

VMA is a multi-awarded learning institution. On top of its professional courses, VMA offers TESDA Vocational Courses and Department of Education authorized basic education. (PR)
