Lazatin orders third Covid boosters for health workers

ANGELES CITY--Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has ordered the third booster shots against COVID 19 for all health workers in public and private hospitals here.

All eligible health workers or those under A1 category will receive bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines, which is the third booster for frontline healthcare workers, with at least four months interval from the second booster.

Lazatin will deploy the city government’s Ronda Bakuna bus in all public and private hospitals to fast-track the inoculation of the health workers.

The Ronda Bakuna Bus are manned by doctors, nurses, health workers, and support staff from City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra; Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Rodolfo Simeon; Office for Senior Citizens Affairs led by Eduardo Torres; and Gender and Development Office headed by Mina Cabiles.

The vaccination will start on July 17, 2023, for the health workers from Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center followed by Angeles Medical Center on July 18; Dr. Armando L. Garcia Medical Center Inc. on July 19, 8:30AM to 3PM; R.S. Clinic and Hospital on July 19, 3:15PM to 4:30PM; St. Catherine of Alexandria Foundation and Medical Center on July 20, 8:30AM to 2PM; and Philippine Rehabilitation Institute on July 20, 3PM to 4:30PM.

The Ronda Bakuna Bus will also visit Holy Family Medical Center Inc. on July 24, 8:30AM to 3PM; Jongno East Medical Center Inc. on July 24, 3:30PM to 4:30PM; Sacred Heart Medical Center on July 25-26; and Angeles University Foundation Medical Center on July 31-August 1 to inoculate their health workers.

Angeles City is the only local government unit that launched a blended vaccination scheme — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay.

This program is being supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program.

This strategy was commended by the World Health Organization and the Department of Health.

To date, 407,817 Angeleños already received their first dose; 385,705 are fully vaccinated; 100,032 got their first booster shots; and 15,975 for second booster shots.
