Footwear Renaissance: Where tradition meets modernity

CLARKS, a footwear brand based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825 when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking: a combination of invention and craftsmanship that’s remained at the heart of what the brand does now. In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations.

Fast-forward to 2023 and Clarks is still a top, go-to, footwear brand constantly innovating and evolving with the times to create leather footwear that dawns its signature look and feel with elements of the modern generation. The new collection has evolved into incorporating new generation sneakers and athleisure styles.

A new store opens in Shangri-La Plaza

For a community that embraces adventure, travel, and a multitude of activities, Clarks Philippines opens a new concept store at Shangri-La Plaza Mall, 2/3 Midlevel, East Wing, in addition to its existing branches and online selling platforms. The new store stays true to Clarks’ signature design–white walls and wooden floating shelves, for a seamless viewing experience of the display. Clarks in Shangri-La will exclusively carry the Spring-Summer 2023 collection and Clarks Originals.

The Clarks Originals

From the original sand-colored Clarks Desert Boot first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950, to the iconic outdoorsy Wallabees, Desert Treks, as well as the sporty-vintage Tor Run Styles, each Clark design has an instantly recognizable signature that makes it unmistakably Clarks.

Inspired by a rough boot from Cairo’s Old Bazaar, and its minimal, progressive style, it sparked a worldwide footwear revolution. Every design detail today remains true to that first pioneering pair, still using the stitched down technique or stitching the upper material flat on an outsole. The waterproof casual shoes is born.

Clarks Desert Trek is another iconic brand offering. Known for its laced-up look and instantly recognizable central seam, the shoe is designed with a unique comfort shape, super-deconstructed suede uppers, and matching FSC®-certified rubber crepe soles.

There is the heritage-inspired Tor Run sports shoe with its crepe sole, heel cup. and lightweight insert, the piece uses crafted seams and color detailing for the ideal mix of style and comfort. On the other hand, the Clarks Wallabee’s chunky charm made it stand the test of time while offering a design that feels good to wear and easy to match.

Guests nibbled on Yorkshire pudding and some British treats as they shopped for the hand picked selections of Originals and new designs at the store. Clarks is at 4th floor, Shangrila Plaza East wing EDSA corner Shaw boulevard Mandaluyong.
