ONE person was killed while another was wounded when a patron went on shooting spree at a night club in Zamboanga City.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director, said the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at the White Rabbit Bar and Disco House along Governor Camins Avenue in Canelar village.

Lorenzo identified the fatality as Geoffrey Saracho, 42, a resident of Ayala village. Wounded was Gappal Addang, 27, of Zone 2 in Tulay village, Jolo, Sulu.

Lorenzo said based on investigation that prior to the incident, three drunk unidentified customers arrived and entered the establishment refusing to pay the entrance fee.

A commotion ensued when one of the three customers elbowed Sherhan Hassan, the ticket teller, when she approached them in their table to collect the entrance fee payment.

Carlo Glenn Liberata, the bar manager, managed to pacify the commotion.

Moments later, the three unidentified customers went out of the establishment and one of them got gun in their car and indiscriminately opened fire upon his return to the bar hitting Addang and Saracho.

Lorenzo said Addang was rushed to the hospital for treatment while Saracho was declared dead on the spot by Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, the medical director of the paramedics who responded to the emergency call.

Lorenzo said investigation continues to identify the identities of the suspects who fled after the incident.(SunStar Zamboanga)
