DPWH-3 highlights major infra projects under PBBM

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Department of Public Works and Highways Region III (DPWH-3) showcased some of the major infrastructure accomplishments during the first year of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

DPWH-3 Director Roseller Tolentino said their department took its part in rebuilding the nation after the pandemic through construction of infrastructures.

“Our role in nation-building has also created ripple effects to the creation of numerous local opportunities for job creation, economic revitalization, and community development, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the region," Tolentino said.

Among the major projects accomplished since June 30, 2022 included the construction of roads, bridges, and flood mitigation structures, said Tolentino.

In Aurora, the 150-lineal meter Kadayacan Bridge amounting to P173.7-million has connected the adjacent barangays of Bayanihan and Kadayacan.

The new bridge can accommodate all types of vehicles and has enhanced transportation of goods and people.

A total of P189-million was also allocated for the construction of river walls along Colo River in Hermosa, Pantingan River in Pilar, and Paysawan River in Bagac, all located in Bataan.

An additional investment of P95-million was made for the construction of flood mitigation structures along Pamatawan River in San Antonio and the rehabilitation of Cabaoangan Creek in Subic, both situated in Zambales, to protect residents around the area.

"We are not only focused on protecting lives and improving travel efficiency, but we are also committed to enhancing lives through the construction of various facilities,” Tolentino said.

He disclosed that P7.8-million barangay public market in San Jose City, and a P40.2- million multipurpose facility serving as the annex of the 7th Infantry Division's main building in Fort Magsaysay, were constructed in Nueva Ecija.

Slope protection structures along Sapang Palay in the City of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, with a budget of P94.5-million; and P29-million worth of improvement of the Bulihan farm-to-market road in Plaridel were also completed this year.

In Pampanga, DPWH allocated some P96.5-million for the rehabilitation of Porac-Gumain River Irrigation System (RIS), while the road dike along the Abacan River in Angeles City with a budget of P175-million was also constructed.

Tolentino reiterated the DPWH's commitment to the administration's infrastructure development strategy, anchored in the Build Better More (BBM) Program.

The program aims to establish an interconnected road network to support rapid, inclusive, and sustained economic growth.
