A TOTAL of eight barangays in Talisay have been declared drug-cleared, said Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

"I was happy to know that Lawaan 1 has been designated as a new drug-cleared barangay, bringing our total to eight," said Gullas.

The seven barangays that were previously declared as drug-cleared are Tapul, Camp 4, Jaclupan, Biasong, Maghaway, Candulawan, and Manipis.

Gullas said the “Oplan Limpyo Talisay,” where they conduct various programs, including the Out-patient Rehab and Aftercare Program, was successful and effective since they have seen visible results.

"With these development, our Oplan Limpyo Talisay is proving to be effective... It is also because kitang tanan nangtinabangay para mulambo atong komunidad (It is also because we all work together to develop our community)," he said.

One of the goals of the Talisay City Out-patient Rehab and Aftercare Program is to “helping addicts at any length.”

Gullas said that he is hoping the other areas will cooperate and strive to designate their barangay as drug-cleared.

Talisay City has 22 barangays.

"Padayon lang ta Talisaynon," Gullas said, as he urged his constituents to help in the fight against illegal drugs. (GK Marie Dejacto, CNU intern)
