Quijano: 3 scenarios for Crawford-Spence

This is it. After years of waiting, it’s finally on — Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence. The fight of the decade. Somebody’s 0 has got to go.

For the record, I have Crawford via decision. Here are our three possible scenarios for today’s much-awaited super fight:

FIRST. Both fighters come out throwing jabs. Southpaw Spence edges the battle as he seems more comfortable in his stance. Crawford is right there with him but Spence seems more relaxed.

In the fourth round, Crawford comes in throwing a double jab followed by a stinging right hand that lands flush and down goes Spence.

He is up at the count of five and seems more surprised than hurt. The round ends with Crawford dominating the action.

Spence exhibits remarkable recuperative powers as he goes on to dictate the action in the middle rounds, seemingly negating the points advantage brought about by the knockdown.

But in the 10th round, Crawford switches to southpaw and begins to find a home for his right hook. The move is timely and brilliant as Spence is unable to adjust in the championship rounds.

In the end, all three judges have it for Crawford via wide unanimous decision.

SECOND. Spence starts out fast. Being the naturally bigger man, he is able to dictate the pace while coming forward at the same time.

Crawford is active and unleashes several combinations but Spence seems unperturbed.

In the ninth round, Spence clearly hurts “Bud” with a body shot and the latter takes a knee.

The bell saves him but Spence is on him in the next round like an amorous lover.

Crawford fights back bravely to save his legacy but Spence is just too strong.

The ref comes in to call for the denouement of the fight with 10 seconds left to save Crawford from further punishment.

THIRD. Crawford dominates the early rounds behind his superior hand speed. Spence comes forward throwing punches in bunches but Crawford is just too slick.

An accidental headbutt in the fifth round changes the complexion of the fight as Crawford comes away from it with a huge gash on his forehead.

His output wanes allowing Spence back into the fight.

Crawford finds his second wind and the championship rounds are evenly fought and difficult to score.

The fight ends with both men on their feet but the verdict draws controversy as Spence is awarded a split draw.

LAST ROUND. It’s on my dearest Liezel Gedorio who recently celebrated her birthday. Cheers!
