Demecillo makes US debut vs. unbeaten Crowder

Kenny Demecillo finally brings his fan-friendly slugging style of fighting to US soil as he takes on undefeated American prospect Dominique Crowder in a 10-rounder on Aug. 5, 2023 at the Physical Education Complex at 2500 W. North Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland.

Every night, Demecillo always comes to fight and has a tendency to score an upset over highly regarded fighters.

In 2015, Demecillo came in as a huge underdog against former amateur star Daryl Basadre. However, he shocked the hometown crowd in General Santos City after knocking out Basadre in two rounds.

Later that year, they had a rematch. Despite getting knocked down early in the fight, Demecillo displayed a ton of heart and stopped Basadre in the eighth.

Demecillo also came in as a huge underdog against undefeated Russian Vyacheslav Mirzaev in 2018. However, Demecillo dropped Mirzaev in the fourth round and knocked him out in the fifth frame in Russia.

The 31-year-old Demecillo, nicknamed “Big Heart,” fought twice this year. He lost to Kazuki Nakajima by an eight round stoppage in Japan but bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Kim Lindog T’Boli.

The 29-year-old Crowder was busy last year with three fights. He defeated Wilner Soto, Yeison Vargas and Pinoy John Mark Alimane. He just fought once this year and knocked out Josue Portales.

Demecillo is 17-6-2 with 10 knockouts, while Crowder is 15-0 with 10 knockouts. (EKA)
