MORE than five kilos of suspected shabu were seized by Talisay police during a buy-bust in Purok Kawayan, Sitio Kimba, Barangay San Roque, Talisay City at 10:18 on Sunday night, July 30, 2023.

The suspect was identified as Robert Bonghanoy Fernan, 31, a high-value individual, who owns a junk shop in Purok Avocado, Barangay Maghaway, Talisay City.

Confiscated from him were six paper bags containing large packages of suspected shabu weighing 5.5 kilos with a standard drug price of P37,400,000 and a .45 pistol.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, the chief of Talisay City Police Station, the suspect was arrested during a buy-bust operation held in connection with its “Oplan Limpyo Talisay” project.

According to Caballes, they received information that the seized items were part of the 10 kilograms of suspected shabu that were placed inside a sack and picked up by the suspect near a mall in South Road Properties.

"The subject is known as bodegero. The item was delivered, placed in a sack about 10 kilos, near SM Seaside," Caballes said.

The suspect's drug distribution network includes communities in Cebu's first district as well as the cities of Talisay and Cebu.

The suspect was previously detained in 2017 at the Talisay City Police Station detention cell but was released from prison in May 2020 after he availed of plea bargaining agreement.

Fernan told the police that the illegal drug supply came from an inmate in Cebu City, which they are still trying to identify.

The suspect’s drug distribution network includes the cities of Cebu and Talisay and the municipalities in the first district of Cebu.(AYB, TPT)
