Housewife hurt in Sibugay ambush; husband, son unscathed

A HOUSEWIFE was injured while her husband and son were unscathed in an ambush in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Friday, August 4.

Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the victim as Amsina Balimbingan Pasumala, 51.

Unscathed were her husband Magdaleno, 57, and son, Ismael, 25.

Mallo said the incident happened around 9 p.m. Thursday, August 3, in Canacan village, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Investigation showed the victims were aboard a motorboat heading to Purok A in Canacan village when ambushed by two unidentified gunmen who positioned themselves in an abandoned fishpond.

Mallo said that Amsina was rushed to the Pathfinder Estate Hospital for treatment.

The suspects fled towards the coastal area of Mamagon village in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Mallo said investigation continues to establish the motive and to establish the identities of the suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
