Fun run kicks off annual San Carlos hospital week

San Carlos City Hospital (SCCH) with Team Ewit, held its 1st Fun Run with the theme “Sulong Kalusugan, Ospital Maaasahan” which kicked off the observance of the annual Hospital Week on August 5.

At least 680 individuals from San Carlos City, Dumaguete City, Canlaon City, and municipalities of Calatrava, Toboso, and La Libertad participated in the event.

In the 5k Male category, Jeomil Cabradilla was champion, followed by Jr Pionela and Ralph Niño Latigo as 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.

Lara Carsedo, April Grace Macalso, and Jillian Rose Barbadillo were the champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up, respectively, in the 5k Female.

In the 3k Male, Jemar Magdalino, champion; Lj Lopez, 1st runner-up; and Louie Lindayao, 2nd runner-up.

For the 3k Female, Queentiffa Ledesma brought home the championship; Romela Laytador and Maria Mela Banza were 1st and 2nd runners-up.

Winners of 5k female and male categories received P1,000, champion; P700, 1st runner-up; and P500, 3rd runner-up; for 3k female and male categories received P700 for the champions; P500 for 2nd place winners; and P300 for 3rd place winners.

Nurses Mary Ann Combate and Gwen Delubio of SCCH said the event also aimed at raising the wellness of SCCH employees and individuals who registered.

They also encouraged individuals who want to donate blood to participate in their bloodletting activity in partnership with Negros First Blood Bank.

Combate and Delubio thanked City Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona; Board Member Rommel Debulgado; First District Congressman Gerardo Valmayor Jr.; Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson; and sponsors for supporting the event.

Moreover, Cabradilla and Magdalino happily shared that they would use the money they won for their school needs and practice.

They shared that training before the event and self-motivation to persevere were significant factors in winning. (PR)
