The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bacolod District Office arrested Wednesday, August 9, an alleged fake dentist in Calatrava town for violation of the Philippine Dental Act, its agent, Jovel Aperio, said.
The suspect who was arrested for inflagrante delicto, or has been caught in the act of committing an offense, was identified by Aperio as Jude Labado Yanson who is also reportedly illegally operating a dental laboratory manufacturing tooth braces, retainers, and dentures.
He was detained at the NBI detention and an appropriate case for violation of the Philippine Dental Act was up for filing by the NBI as of press time.
Dr. Maribel Ong, President of the Philippine Dental Association-Negros Occidental chapter said they filed the complaint with the NBI after they were informed of the illegal operation of the suspect who is from Cebu.
She claimed that they also received complaints about the alleged complications of tooth extraction and other dental services offered by the suspect.
Mouth and dental care should only be done by licensed dentists, she stressed.
She also advised the public not to trust their dental and mouth care to fake dentists.*
