Mambukal gears up for the 14th Mudpack festival

MAMBUKAL resort is now gearing up for the 14th Mudpack Festival slated on June 19 to 20.

The two-day annual festival will again feature Mambukal’s distinct multi-colored clay to stir people’s awareness of the importance of the environment.

Mudpack is a festival of arts which serves as a venue for artists in the province to gather and exhibit their talents in dance, crafts, and music.

Started in 1996, Mudpack Festival is said to be a unique event as it centers on the harmony of man and nature.

The celebration is expected to draw large crowds not only in the town of Murcia but all over the province.

In the morning of the first day, there will be competitions for chants and stunts, drumbeating, clay body-painting, mixed media art and photo.

The Ms. Earth-Mambukal pageant will be held in the evening, followed by a band and dance party.

On the second day, there will be competitions for solo dance improvisation, tribal dance and clay sculpture making.

The theme for this year’s festival is “Clean Water for A Healthy World.”

Mambukal resort is now considered as the premier tourist destination in the province owned and managed by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

It is known as the “little Baguio” of the province. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
