P96M Pasig-Potrero river slope protection finished

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of slope protection along the banks of the Pasig-Potrero River in Barangay Manuali, Porac town.

DPWH-Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the project with a budget of P96.2-million funded under the 2022 national budget.

The construction of the 310.31-lineal meter structure on a steel sheet pile foundation is expected to help prevent flooding and soil erosion in areas near the Pasig-Potrero River, which are affected by the rapid flow of water during heavy rains.

"This project is essential infrastructure that ensures the safety of Manuali residents and protects their properties by diverting the flow of river water away from the community, thereby preventing further scouring of the river banks," said Gregorio Audea, Jr., chief of DPWH - Pampanga 2nd DEO.

In 2022, DPWH Pampanga 2nd DEO completed a 232.54-lineal-meter structure in Barangay Manuali, costing P29.3 million.
