Artist Paul Pablo breaks ground with Bisaya house track

Emerging artist Paul Pablo is set to make waves with debut Bisaya track “Isulti Lang (Tell Me).” The song not only represents a new creative direction for Paul Pablo but also signifies his commitment to embracing his linguistic and cultural roots.

Paul Pablo’s journey into the world of “Isulti Lang” began with a longstanding friendship with DJ Young, established in 2021 and cemented in the past year. Their shared affinity for house music provided the catalyst for the creation of a track that would resonate deeply with both artists.

Collaborating with Davao-based artist and producer Jhay Ehidio, Paul Pablo and DJ Young meticulously honed the track, preparing it for its debut. The significance of “Isulti Lang” extends beyond its infectious rhythm and catchy melodies. For Paul Pablo, this track marks his first-ever Bisaya creation, a significant milestone in his artistic journey.

“As someone who grew up speaking both Bisaya and Tagalog, I find it important to write something in a language or dialect I am comfortable with. The words just hit differently whenever you do so, because it’s rooted in your history. I believe that artists should be encouraged to create more songs in their Mother Tongue, whatever language that is. They should also experiment with new sounds and production. We can redefine the sound of OPM, because our culture is so rich, that a single sound shouldn’t define it.”

The song itself, “Isulti Lang,” revolves around the theme of romance. Pablo noted that the danceable nature of the track, coupled with its romantic message, positions it perfectly for dance floors and parties—as captured by its music video shot in Bacolod City.

Paul Pablo’s foray into the Bisaya music scene not only highlights his artistic evolution but also champions the potential of Bisaya language within contemporary music. His dedication to embracing his linguistic identity and producing music that resonates across cultures sets a compelling precedent for the evolving landscape of OPM. With “Isulti Lang,” Paul Pablo invites listeners to experience the fusion of musical artistry and cultural celebration in a way that is distinctly his own.
