THE Talisay Razkals and Don Bosco Liloan took home titles in their respective divisions in the Rhoro Futsal Invitational Games Liga Skwela Visayas on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2023 at the Virgen De Las Escuelas Pias in Talisay City.
The Talisay Razkals topped the Women’s Open division after a 3-0 win over Real Carcaranon Club de Futbol (RCCF) in the championship match.
Talisay Razkals already defeated RCCF, 4-1, in the group stage to finish at the top of Group B. Barili settled for third place with a 1-0 win over Balamban.
On the other hand, Don Bosco Liloan won the Girls Under-13 trophy with a 2-1 (1-1) penalty shootout victory.
Don Bosco Liloan finished at the top of Group A with nine points, while Barili was second in the same group with six points.
Don Bosco Liloan defeated Talisay Razkals A, 3-0, while Barili squeaked past Talisay Razkals B, 2-1 (2-2), in a nail-biting penalty shootout.
This was Don Bosco’s second title after winning the Girls Under-13 crown last Saturday.
“The turnout of the tournament was good. The quality of the teams also improved and some U-13 and U-15 standouts were already identified,” event organizer Rhosner Bollozos told SunStar Cebu.
Bollozos is planning to hold a year-round futsal league with more teams and will follow full futsal rules with 40-minute matches. The divisions will be Girls Under-13 and Girls Under-15.
“Next will be a league-type tournament,” said Bollozos. “Right now, we’ll just have U-13 and U-15 Girls. If we get more budget, then we will include Women’s Open. It’s good to show the kids good matches. There are a lot of positive effects for the kids if they will see the women play.”
Bollozos is planning on having a total of 17 teams. Nine teams from southern Cebu and four teams each from central Cebu and northern Cebu. The league will follow league-type double round robin format.
After the league there will be a champions league, wherein the best teams in south, central and northern areas will face off. / EKA
