Victorias, PCIC turn over financial aid to local hog raisers

The Victorias City Government and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) turned over cheques amounting to Php 174,000 to three local hog raisers, August 11.

These hog raisers are recipients of the financial assistance provided by PCIC to those who were gravely affected by the recent surge of African Swine Fever (ASF).

According to the City Veterinary Office, the PCIC insured a total of 313 hog raisers in Victorias amounting to Php 14.8 million worth of coverage.

As of July 2023, the CVO has already processed 18 insurance claims under this program.

Victorias City Swine Farmers are the first recipients of the PCIC Insurance Grants for ASF Related cases in Negros Occidental.

City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, PEO Head Ariel Batuigas, Insurance underwriter Charlon Melendrez, and City Veterinarian John Michael Cabuguason led the event.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation is an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture. Its primary mission is to provide farmers with insurance protection against crop losses caused by natural disasters, plant diseases, and pest infestations. (PR)
