Rum Festival opens at full throttle; Exciting events to run until Aug. 20

The City Government of Bacolod led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Benitez staged the 2023 Tanduay Bacolod Rum festival which kicked off on August 12.

Despite the rain, the rum festival was officially opened at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.

The downpour did not dampen the spirits of our Bacolod Rum Festival 2023 goers as the city opened the festival at the BCGC grounds.

Mayor Benitez and Councilors Thaddy Sayson, Cindy Roxas, Em Ang and Jason Villarosa were joined by Chino Reyes-National Activations Executive, PMFTC, Inc., Joram Bacoro-Tanduay-Bacolod Branch Manager, Francis Lorenzo-Regional Marketing Supervisor, Tanduay Distillers, Inc. for the ribbon cutting to officially signal the opening of the festival.

The Bacolod Rum Festival will run from Aug. 12 to 20 with different activities highlighting the world’s No. 1 selling rum, Tanduay, which is distilled and fermented in Bacolod City.

The Bacolod Rum Festival activities include the Rum Barrel Painting contest, Flairtending & Mixology Competition, Culinaria Competition, Food Park, and Music Festival and will culminate with a free concert at the BCGC grounds by Ely Buendia Live on August 19.

Derek Ramsay and Kylie Verzosa are also expected to grace the festival.

This is Bacolod City’s third staging of the Rum Festival.

Rum Barrel Art Competition

Exciting developments in the Rum Barrel Art Competition as 25 outstanding participants advanced from a pool of 45 applicants to compete in the Rum Barrel Art Competition, Aug.14, at Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

Innovative participants repurposed retired oak barrels by painting them with their beautiful art. The old barrels are from Tanduay's Manapla Barrel Farm.

Finished material will be on display at the Ayala Malls.

The moment of truth approaches as judging is scheduled for this Friday, Aug. 18.

Stay tuned for the big announcement of winners on Aug. 19, a special highlight during the upcoming free concert at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.

The first prize is P20,000 and a certificate; 2nd Prize is P15,000 and a certificate and 3rd prize is P10,000 and a certificate and two consolation prizes at P2,500 each.
