FIVE drug personalities were arrested while some P130,000 worth of illegal drugs seized in an anti-drug operation in Lanao del Sur, the police reported Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Police Brigadier General Allan Nobleza, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) director, said the suspects and the illegal drugs were seized in a buy-bust operation in Banga village, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur around 7:30 p.m. Monday, August 14.
Nobleza identified the arrested suspects as the following: Amer Sarip Pandapatan, the subject of the buy-bust operation; Jalil Grande Sarip; Usman Sarip Sultan; Sohayle Penida Indad; and Edris Umpara Liwalug.
Nobleza said Pandapatan, upon sensing he was transacting illegal drugs to an undercover policeman, tried to escape and run into a house where he was cornered and the other four suspects were arrested.
He said seized from the suspects were 19.2 grams of suspected shabu packed in 12 heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated worth of P130,560, a cellular phone, a P1,000 boodle money, P1,000 marked money, identification cards, and illegal drugs paraphernalia.
He lauded the operating units for the accomplishment in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Nobleza reiterated they will continue working with other law enforcement agencies to eradicate small and big-time drug peddlers operating in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. (SunStar Zamboanga)
