A TOTAL of 23 personnel with three dependents of the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division (ID) have availed the Rest and Recreation Flight after months of rendering peace and security duty in the province of Sulu, the military said Thursday, August 17.

The 11ID said the troops were transported from Jolo Airport through the Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft to Villamor Airbase in Pasay City on Tuesday, August 15.

Major General Ignatius Patrimonio, 11ID commander, has expressed his profound gratitude for the free flight.

Patrimonio said it is very convenient, especially for troops residing in Luzon.

“It is a privilege for our personnel to avail this flight. While we perform our duties, we thank the Armed Forces of the Philippines for looking out for the morale of our troops through this Rest and Recreation Flight,” Patrimonio said.

“Rest assured that your Alakdan Troopers will continue to serve in realizing the inclusive peace Sulu aspires form” he added.

Previously, troops based in Sulu have to take a boat to Zamboanga City to board a C-130 plane at the Edwin Andrews Air Base on their way for vacation in Luzon and other parts of the county. (SunStar Zamboanga)
