TEAM Tadeco and EVS Davao ROF emerged champions in the 38th Kadayawan Softball Tournament that concluded at the Calinan National High School on Monday, August 21.
In the men's division, Tadeco secured the title by defeating the 2019 champions Davao Elites from Davao City, 8-7, behind pitcher Felix Recamora's exceptional performance. The Dabawenyos took the runner-up honors instead.
The Panabo City-based Tadeco demolished Tagum City, 10-5, while the Davao Elites scored a 10-0 shutout victory over Digos/Kiblawan selection team with pitcher Jayson Acuña at the helm.
For its part, Tagum City survived past Digos/Kiblawan to place third, while the latter settled for the fourth spot.
Meanwhile, the EVS Davao ROF softbelles eked out a 1-0 win to defend its women’s title over Garahe Primos to rule the women's event.
EVS Davao ROF first blanked the Calinan Ball Crushers, 5-0, before colliding with Garahe Primos of Tagum City, which defeated Baguio National School of Arts and Trade (BNSAT), 5-1.
In the battle for third, BNSAT subdued Calinan Ball Crushers, 4-2.
Tournament winners received cash prizes in the event organized by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil) Davao as part of the 38th Kadayawan Sports Festival, sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).
