39IB gets new commander

THE Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID) has implemented changes in the leadership of its operating unit, the 39th Infantry Battalion (IB), based in North Cotabato.

The 10ID said in a statement that installed as the new 39IB commander is Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Fer Solamo, who replaced Lieutenant Colonel Ezra Balagtey.

Major General Jose Eriel Niembra, 10ID commander, presided over the change of command ceremony on Monday, August 21, at the 39IB headquarters in Poblacion village, Makilala, North Cotabato.

In his message, Balagtey expressed gratitude to 39IB personnel who helped him in leading the unit at its finest.

Balagtey also acknowledged all the efforts of past commanders and contributions of each and every stakeholder in achieving an insurgency-free area of responsibility.

On the other hand, Solamo said in his speech that he will lead the 39IB personnel with utmost strength to achieve its mission and in accordance with International Humanitarian Law.

Meanwhile, Niembra lauded Balagtey for his effective and efficient leadership during his two-year stint as the 39IB commander.

Niembra emphasized the importance of civil military operations in which the area of the unit is currently focused on.

Niembra advised Solamo to use all resources at his disposal in order to achieve the unit’s mission and continue to demonstrate an excellent performance in sustaining the peace gains of the unit. (SunStar Zamboanga)
