Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez is planning to meet all the department heads to address the delayed salaries of the contract of service (COS) workers, job order, and casual employees at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).

This was after some COS workers assigned to the City Health Office (CHO) complained that their salaries had been delayed for almost three months.

Benitez said it's not only the COS, but also the job order and casual employees experienced the same problem.

"We are now finding a solution that they will be paid on time. I'm telling all the department heads to solve the on-time release of the salaries of our employees," he said.

He added he was informed that there was a delay in their salaries because some of their documents were also submitted late.

The mayor stressed that he would hold a meeting with all the department heads to determine how to solve this problem.

Benitez said the offices should have a human resource or management system to avoid correction of their documents so they can release the salaries on time.

Secretary to the Mayor Joseph Karol Chiu earlier apologized to some COS workers for their delayed salaries.

Chiu said there was a delay in the release of the salaries of the 14 nurses and 12 midwives detailed at the CHO due to the late submission of the documents, which covered the period of June to August.

Due to the delay, he said that they will review the process of the CHO with its administration officer on how to fast-track the salaries of their workers.*
