CPPO on full alert for Pasigarbo sa Sugbo

STARTING Saturday, August 26, 2023, all police stations in Cebu province will be on full alert as part of the security protocols for the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo festival in Carcar City, southern Cebu on Sunday, August 27.

The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) said the full alert status will only be lifted after the event.

"We'll be declaring full alert status sa tibuok (in the entire) province of Cebu, starting ugma (August 26) ang tanang (all) personnel sa CPPO under full alert status," said Police Major Nolan Tagsip, the spokesperson for CPPO officer-in-charge Police Colonel Noel Flores.

The change in status from normal to full alert, according to Flores, is to assure the security and orderliness of the significant event that will take place in Carcar City for the first time.

Around 2,000 personnel from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB 7) and Carcar City Hall will be deployed on the day of Pasigarbo in Cebu.

Tagsip added that all that needs to be done has been planned including the final security briefing of the supervisors of each law enforcement agency.

One of those rumored to attend the event is President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., but the police have yet to confirm this. (AYB, TPT)
