THREE-DIVISION world champion Johnriel Casimero is back in action on Oct. 12, 2023 and will take on former world champion Yukinori Oguni at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

The 34-year-old Casimero is working himself up the 122-pound division in search of his fourth division world title and a shot at one of boxing’s best, Naoya Inoue. Casimero is the World Boxing Organization Global super bantamweight champion after a unanimous-decision win over Fillipus Nghitumbwa on May 13 in Parañaque City. He already has two wins as a super bantamweight after knocking out Ryo Akaho in the second round last year in South Korea.

A win over an established Japanese veteran like Oguni should help him get a title shot that he wants.

The 35-year-old Oguni hasn’t fought for over a year. His last fight was on May 20, 2022, where he fought Keita Kurihara to a technical draw. / EKA
