VETERAN broadcaster and host Mike Enriquez has passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

This was confirmed by Enriquez’s home network over the past five decades, GMA.

“It is with profound sadness that GMA Network announces the passing of our beloved Kapuso, Mr. Miguel "Mike" C. Enriquez, who peacefully joined our Creator on August 29, 2023,” it said in a statement.

“The Board of Directors, management, and employees of GMA Network, Inc. deeply mourn the passing of Mr. Enriquez. His dedication to the industry will serve as an inspiration to all. We pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Kapuso,” it added.

Enriquez, station manager of GMA’s radio network Super Radyo DZBB, died at the age of 71.

He also served as the senior vice president and consultant to GMA’s radio operations and president of the firm’s regional network.

He was also one of the main anchor in GMA’s flagship newscast, “24 oras” and hosted the long-running public affairs program "Imbestigador."

In 2018, Enriquez underwent a treatment for a kidney disease as well as a heart bypass operation.

In 2021, he had a kidney transplant followed by a long isolation.

He went back to work after several months and took part in the networks special coverage of the 2022 national and local elections.(SunStar Philippines)
