CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Some 5,000 students from the San Fernando Elementary School on Wednesday received a 'go bag" from the city government here.
Mayor Vilma Caluag personally led the distribution of the "go bags" in time for the opening of classes in public schools on August 29, 2023.
Aside from use in school, the "Kayabe Go Bags" were designed to be used in times of emergencies and calamities as carry-on containers of essential provisions.
As suggested by disaster risk reduction and management councils, a basic "go bag" should contain bottled water and nonperishable food, such as biscuits or high-energy granola bars, personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, wet wipes, and toiletries, medicines at first aid kit and emergency tools.
It may also contain a flashlight, battery-operated AM/FM radio, and extra batteries, a portable cell phone charger or power bank, notepad, pen or pencil and a marker.
For family go bags, it should contain important documents and cash wrapped in water-proof containers.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office here said it will teach the parents of the students on the preparation and use of the "Kayabe Go Bags."
The city government is also set to give the go bags to other public schools students here.
