The City Government of San Carlos through the Tourism Office opened the annual Tourism Week celebration yesterday, September 4.

With the theme, Tourism and Green Investment, representatives of the different barangays, tourism-related establishments, schools, and partner offices joined the motorcade along the major streets of the city followed by ceremonial rites signaling the start of the week-long celebration led by Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona, City Council Chair on Tourism Philip Gerard Maisog, and Councilor Mark Cui.

The Tourism Office also opened a tourism exhibit with representatives of the barangays displaying their delicacies on a food parade in the City Hall Lobby followed by partaking of food shared.

Tourism Operations Officer Jennifer Saballa-Paran said this year’s theme focused on encouraging tourism investors to establish better businesses for people, the planet, and prosperity.

Paran added that tourism is an economic driver that if unplanned, could cause negative impacts on the environment. Hence, she said the celebration also means commitment to environmental preservation among tourism investors.

Activities prepared by the Tourism Office include Senior High School Tourism Quiz on Sept. 5; Junior High School Tour Guiding Competition on Sept. 6; Inter-barangay Habichuelas Cook-off on Sept. 7; and Syudad Ko Libuton Ko Familiarization Tours with the Department of Education and private schools, Sept. 7-8, as part of the week-long celebration.

Representatives of accommodation establishments and resorts will also undergo a first aid seminar on Sept. 13-14. (PR)
