A FOUR-STORY, eight-classroom school building broke ground at the West City Central School in Cagayan de Oro City on August 31, 2023.
The groundbreaking for the P48-million classroom building, funded by the City Government's Special Education Fund, was led by Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, who, in his message, said the city's program will continue, especially to schools that are in need of additional classrooms and equipment that are needed to make it easier to teach the students.
"Ang edukasyon pinakabililhon ug mahinungdanon nga ikabilin sa mga kabataan," Uy said.
West City Central School Principal Jerry Taruc, for his part, expressed his gratitude to the City Government for choosing West City Central School for this project.
According to Taruc, the school is lacking 15 to 20 classrooms, particularly for Grades 1 and 2. This results in having emergency classes divided into morning and afternoon shifts.
The four-story classroom building has a built-in multimedia package for the convenience of the students and teachers. These include a smart TV, projector, sound system, desktop computer, tables and chairs for teachers, arm chairs with storage for students, and arm chairs for left-handed students.
The building also comes with a functional alarm system for the security of those inside the school.
