SOME eight international chefs will arrive in Cebu next week for the Bakery World 2023.
During the three-day event to be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino from Sept. 14 to 16, these international chefs will share their best baking practices, and at the same time highlight new products, trends and technologies now popular in the baking industry before local bakers and cafe owners from the Visayas and Mindanao.
They are from Australia, Malaysia, the USA, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, France and Japan.
This year’s Bakery World 2023, organized by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to enable bakeries and cafe owners, especially the small and medium players, to level up.
“We’re going to see a lot of bakery and café related suppliers, from ingredients to equipment and a little bit of packaging. They will see different ways of using products, and come up with new products. We will also have food photography sessions,” Ko said.
Ko said there will be six learning sessions per day during the three-day event, where attendees could increase productivity, improve product quality and create new innovations in their business.
Some local chefs from across the country will also be joining the exhibit.
Peter Limquiaco, president of Global Pacific Distribution Network Corp., said the upcoming expo will have 82 exhibitors with 166 booths, an increase from the expo’s first installation in 2018 with 57 exhibitors and 113 booths.
“Given the interest, we are expecting a bigger crowd this year,” said Limquiaco, adding that the Bakery World is one of the biggest expos in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The expo also features competitions on wedding cake decorations, the Love Philippines cake decoration featuring the country’s tourist attractions, and the bread art showpiece.
The prizes for each category are P10,000 for the first prize, P60,000 for the second prize, and P30,000 for the third prize.
