New Davao tourism campaign promotes region as unique, vibrant destination

THE Department of Tourism-Davao Region (DOT-Davao) has launched the "Davao: Diversity is Our Beauty" tourism campaign to showcase the region's diversity and promote it as a unique destination.

Tanya Rabat-Tan, regional director of DOT-Davao, said that the campaign's goal is to tell a unified story that represents the entire region while focusing on the strengths of each province and city within Davao.

"The challenge really is how do you tell a unified story with the five provinces and one city each unique in their own right, and the richly diverse [Davao Region] yet deeply intertwined with each other," the regional director said during the PepTalks Forum at SM Lanang Premier, September 5.

Rabat-Tan highlighted the unique attractions of each area. For example, Davao Oriental is known for adventure activities, Davao de Oro offers wellness experiences, Davao del Norte is an eco-tourism hub, Davao City provides an urban experience, Davao Del Sur is a food and coffee haven, and Davao Occidental combines nature and culture.

She, however, said there is much more to discover in each location, encouraging tourists to explore and experience these unique offerings firsthand.

The campaign also encourages local government units in Davao Region to develop and promote their unique products and experiences to attract domestic and international tourists.

"It's always the experience; it's really the biggest contributing factor on how you enjoy your travel or visit to a place," the regional director said. "We'd want you [tourists] to experience all, but you don't really need to, so that's why we are presenting all the offerings of different places." 

The campaign was launched on August 15 on DOT-Davao's social media platforms. It was developed through meetings and workshops involving 40 participants from various sectors, including national government agencies and private organizations.
