PROVING that luxury and sustainability is possible, developer Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation - TLDC inaugurated on Monday afternoon, September 4, its solar farm at Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort in Mabini, Davao de Oro.

In partnership with Corenergy, Inc. – a fully-owned subsidiary of Vivant Energy Corporation, the newly-inaugurated 756-unit solar farm is eyed to power 60 percent of the island-resort’s energy requirement.

“We are proud to integrate sustainable practices in our operations that help provide a more meaningful customer experience to guests,” TLDC Chief Executive Officer Tomas Lorenzo shared.

He added that the solar farm augments their commitment to sustainable development as it enables to power the island from clean and renewable energy. Lorenzo also shared that they intend to use solar power to all of its properties in the future.

The solar farm has an output of 415.8kWp which is equivalent to 6,084 trees planted yearly. Corenergy, for its part, said the energy generated from the solar facility will reduce carbon emissions by 251 metric tons annually.

COREnergy Inc. Chief Operating Officer Michael Angelo H. Lasam said that this project is a symbol of hope and progress that can be emulated by other players in the hospitality industry.

“When we look at the solar farm, we see not just a source of power but a symbol of hope and progress. This is a reminder that through innovation and responsible development we can create a brighter future for generations to come,” he said.

Present in the ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing were TLDC CEO Tomas Lorenzo and COO Cathy Casares-Ko; Vivant CEO Arlo Sarmiento and VP Operations Mark Habana; Corenergy COO Michael Lasam; MATEC Director Caldwell Hoey; and the heads of TLDC. ASP
