THE Cebu Provincial Government will reinstate the Obra Negosyo Eskwela program to help small business owners.

This was announced by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on Friday, September 8, 2023 during a brief ceremony to inaugurate the Cebu Negosyo Expo inside a mall in Cebu.

Garcia created the Obra Negosyo Eskwela in 2011, whereby traders and students from every municipality collaborate to grow their businesses.

It was, however, put to an end in 2013, following the conclusion of Garcia's first three terms as governor.

"I think it was on my second or third term when I encouraged the mayors sa kada lungsod (in every municipality) to come up with small business entrepreneurship. I also called on universities kay I asked them if you are in your third year, mag internship man. I asked them to recommend graduating business administration students para purmahon ni sila as teams mo immerse ni sila sa mga lungsod," Garcia said.

Through the program, the local government unit is entrusted with helping the students with transportation, lodging, and food, along with the help of the Cebu Provincial Government.

The students will also be tasked to help and teach the small traders how to develop their business.

In addition, the students will get the chance to experience real-life situations while assisting the small traders of their chosen business.

The judges will then be shown the business plans for the new product, and that is where the winners will be decided.

They will then present the business proposals for a certain product to the judges, and that is where the winners will be decided.

"Basic bookkeeping, business plan, business proposal and to improve sa products. Ang mga studyante mas maayo nga ma immerse sad (It’s better for the students to immerse themselves) in the school life," Garcia said.(ANV, TPT)
