
GOVERNOR Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman has submitted to the Bangsamoro Economic Development Council (BEDC) eight major projects that seek to spur the economic progress of Basilan Province, improve infrastructure, and better living conditions of its people.
Salliman presented the project proposals during the 2nd BEDC meeting in Zamboanga City on Friday, September 8, 2023.
During the meeting, Salliman strongly pushed for the much-needed infrastructural projects that will boost the economic and social development of the province.
These projects include the following: Lamitan City international seaport; Lamitan City airport; Basilan bulk water; rubber industry manufacturing; Basilan fishery program-sardines factory; conversion of Basilan transcentral road to Barmm (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) regional highway; establishment of Barmm nautical highway; and, coconut industry manufacturing.
With the endorsement of BEDC, Salliman is optimistic that his proposals will be approved, included and funded in the development agenda of BARMM.
Salliman said the implementation of the eight infrastructure projects will bring economic progress to the island province of Basilan. (SunStar Zamboanga)
