AT least 87 individuals in the Central Visayas have each received P15,000 in cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for adhering to the national government’s Executive Order No. 39, which sets the price ceiling for regular milled rice at P41 per kilo and well-milled rice at P45 per kilo.
The distribution of financial support was simultaneously held in various locations in the Central Visayas on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
The cash distribution in Cebu City took place in the interim building of the Carbon Public Market, where eight rice vendors received aid.
Additionally, three people in the southern Cebu town of Minglanilla and six people in Consolacion town, northern Cebu each received P15,000 in monetary assistance.
The beneficiaries were identified by the Department Trade and Industry (DTI).
DTI Cebu Provincial Director Rose Mae Quiñanola said in a media interview on Thursday that the recipients of the subsidy were rice merchants who had business permits and followed the rice price cap. (AML)
