A WOMAN died after she was hit by a car while walking alongside a national road in East Binabag, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023.
The victim was identified as Emelyn Soco Panonciar, 51, a resident of Sitio Tawagan, Barangay Tayud.
Lucy Leonelle Armian Dingcong, of legal age, the driver of Toyota Vios who hails from Sitio Bagakay in Tayud, was taken into police custody.
According to their preliminary inquiry, Police Staff Sergeant Rechie Gilleran of the Consolacion Police Station revealed that Dingcong was believed to be sleepy while she allegedly veered out of her route and slammed into an electric post before hitting Panonciar, killing her instantly.
While Dingcong was unharmed, her car sustained significant damage.
If an amicable settlement cannot be achieved between her and the victim's family, Dingcong will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. (DVG, TPT)
