THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public on Saturday, September 16, 2023, over the presence of the food product Sunflower Haw Flake (In Foreign Language), which is unregistered in the Philippines.

Based on Advisory 2023-1898, the FDA said the public must avoid purchasing the unregistered food product that is being sold in the market.

"The FDA verified through online monitoring or post-marketing surveillance that the abovementioned food product is not registered and no corresponding Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) has been issued," said the FDA.

"FDA warns the general public not to purchase and consume the unregistered food product," it added.

The FDA said this is because the food product may result in adverse health reactions to the consumer.

"Since this food product has not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure its quality and safety," it said.

The FDA, then, warned all concerned establishments not to distribute, advertise, or sell the said violative food product.

All law enforcement agencies and local government units are also requested by the FDA to ensure that the product is not sold or made available in their areas of jurisdiction.

The FDA also urged the Bureau of Customs to restrain the entry of the unregistered imported products. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
