MOTORISTS will have to pay more as prices of petroleum products will soar further.
In their respective advisories, Pilipinas Shell, Caltex and Cleanfuel said there will be a P2.50 per liter price increase on diesel and P2 per liter on gasoline and kerosene.
Caltex will implement the price adjustment at 12:01 a.m., Pilipinas Shell at 6 a.m. and Cleanfuel at 4:01 p.m.
Other oil firms have yet to announce price adjustment.
On September 8, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released P3 billion funds for the implementation of the Fuel Subsidy Program that aims to cushion the impact of the continuous increase in oil prices.
The DBM said the funds will benefit more than 1.36 million public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators.
The DBM said modernized public utility jeepneys (PUJ) and Utility Vehicle Express (UVE) will receive P10,000 each; P6,500 each for traditional PUJs and UVEs, public utility buses, minibuses, taxis, shuttle services taxis, transport network vehicle services, tourist transport services, school transport services and filcabs; P1,000 for tricycles; and P1,200 for delivery services.
The Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board said the release of the funds to the beneficiaries started last Wednesday, September 13.
However, the Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (ALTODAP) said on Sunday, September 17, that some PUV drivers and operators have yet to receive the financial aid.
ALTODAP president Boy Vargas said the release of the funds was halted by the election spending ban ahead of the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections. (SunStar Philippines)
