THE Bigatin Trading-2008 and Crossfit-Subtero-2006 proved resilient as they defeated their respective foes to force separate do-or-die games in the Division B playoffs of the 26th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) basketball tournament on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at the Magis Eagles Arena.

Batch 2008 downed the Efficascent Boost BRC-2010, 59-57, while Batch 2006 bested the Puresteel Manufacturing Corporation-2011. The winners of these showdowns will advance to the best-of-three semifinals.

PBA 3x3 player Mikey Cabahug led 2008 with 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocks, while Amai Ong Vaño had a monster double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds. Jonathan Cimafranca and Ed Macasling added nine markers each for 2008.

In the other affair, 2006 pounced on 2011 from the jump and never let up, paving the way for their emphatic win. 2006 didn’t give their opponents any room to breathe and led by 19 at halftime, 39-20. They eventually pushed their lead to a high of 23, 37-14, and cruised to the easy win.

Jan Galo had 17 points for 2006, while Chris Tomakin added 15. Uriel Lim and Mark Blanco chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. / JNP
