Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City Government of Victorias was awarded for the first time as one of the best-performing legislative councils in the Province of Negros Occidental during the Local Legislative Awards (LLA) 2023.

Victorias City ranked third based on the overall performance rating, beating Kabankalan City which was awarded at the national level in the previous years, and following Himamaylan City with a one-point difference.

The award reflects the LGU’s compliance and performance based on the following criteria: Responsiveness of the Legislative Agenda, Availability of Legislative Documents, Effectiveness of Performance of Sanggunian, Efficiency of Performance of Sanggunian, Legislative Citations and Awards, and Capacity Development for Legislators and Staff.

The Local Legislative Awards launched by the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) recognizes the exemplary performance of city and municipal councils that help build meaningful local administration.

The purpose of the event as stated by the PCL and DILG is to accord official recognition to the city and municipal sanggunians that excel in the enactment of ordinances or resolutions that ultimately contribute to the attainment of desirable socio-economic and environmental outcomes. (PR)
