A PUBLIC school teacher was killed in a gun attack at his sister's house in Lamitan City, Basilan province, the police reported Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Arlan Delumpines, Lamitan City police chief, said the incident happened around 9:45 p.m. Monday, September 18, in Simbangon village, Lamitan City.
Delumpines identified the fatality as Jun Ahalajal, 54, a teacher at Badja Central Elementary School in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.
Delumpines said investigation showed the victim was sitting at the lobby of his sister's house when shot by a lone gunman.
Delumpines said the victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
He said a follow-up investigation showed that Ahalajal was shot and killed by Innong Bagee, a resident of Tumahubong village, Sumisip, Basilan.
The motive in the incident was revenge as Bagee's brother was killed by Iking Arabin, the son-in-law of Ahalajal, in Badja village, Tipo-Tipo, on May 15, 2023, said police. (SunStar Zamboanga)
