PATAK SEAning, a mural-painting contest among the various divisions of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 11 (BFar 11) kicked off on September 18, 2023 the Fish Conservation Week celebrated to underscore the importance of marine resources and conservation to the country’s sustainable development goals.

The activity is in partnership with Lawig-Diwa Inc., which is launching the 2023 Mindanao Art Fair on September 24, 2023. This year’s Fish Conservation Week marks BFar’s 60th anniversary.

Giving a short introduction to Bfar staff and personnel led by Regional Director Raul C. Millana and OIC Relly B. Garcia with Enrica Patricia C. Araullo, OIC, Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division on figures and colors were Lawig-Diwa president Rey Mudjahid “Kublai” P. Millan and director Victor Augustus Dumaguing.

Aside from challenging the personnel to bring out their creative side, the activity was a fun break for the personnel who come from various sectors in the community. Name it, BFar 11 has them: indigenous peoples, LGBT, persons with disabilities, women, men, seniors and young ones.

BFar 11 has managed to nurture an inclusive workplace as they reach out to communities, especially the marginalized fisherfolk to deliver services to those most in need. SAE
