DTI helps Tarlac, Nueva Ecija folks

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) continues to help people in Central Luzon through its livelihood assistance and training programs.

In Nueva Ecija province, 226 residents from Science City of Muñoz, San Jose City, Lupao, Cabiao, San Isidro, San Leonardo, Gapan City, Jaen, Bongabon, Laur, Llanera, General Mamerto Natividad, Talugtug, Licab, and Zaragoza received bigasan packages Sari-sari store kits.

The beneficiaries received the aid under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa, a livelihood seeding program that aims to assist individuals affected by calamities and health disasters, communities in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

The Negosyo Centers in the province will regularly monitor beneficiaries on their development and growth, the DTI said.

In Tarlac province, some 100 farmers and potential entrepreneurs from San Clemente town were trained by the agency on entrepreneurship.

The series of training aims to further develop and enhance the farmers' knowledge in putting up and sustaining a business, and equip them with necessary entrepreneurial skills.

The four-day training was organized in support of the Kabuhayang Patok Program of San Clemente's Municipal Agriculture Office which involves agricultural technologies and management as well as agro-enterprise development through food processing.

The training is an initiative of DTI which provides free skills training to various sectors in the entire province. It supports and recognizes the role of local entrepreneurs in generating employment, and spurring economic activity.
