San Carlos barangay vies for ‘Most Outstanding Barangay Tanod’ in region

The Barangay 5 Public Safety Officers (BPSO) of San Carlos City prepared for the Most Outstanding Barangay Tanods group and individual categories regional level and were assessed yesterday afternoon, Sept. 20, at SCC Multi-Purpose Hall Park Marina.

The Regional Search Committee (RSC) consists of DILG-LGOO IV Team Leader Ana Lea Alger, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) VI Chief Inspector Reynan Gecana, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology VI Jail Officer I Rinalyn Ferrer, and Philippine National Police (PNP) VI PLTCOL Terence Paul Sta. Ana assessed the documents, and their skills in arrest technique, pistol and knife disarming, water search and rescue, first aid demonstration, and firefighting skills.

Alger said the evaluation is one of the priority programs of the Regional Management Coordinating Committee aimed at recognizing the best performing barangay tanods in Western Visayas Region in the pursuit of the full implementation and management of peace and order, public safety, and disaster risk and management programs through the initiatives of the DILG agencies and local government units.

City Mayor Renato Gustilo commended the performance of tanods and urged the barangay officials to continue supporting the tanods as they are risking their lives to maintain peace and order.

The evaluators made minor suggestions to the group and complimented their improved performance.

Punong Barangay Ruth Aba was happy with the feedback and thanked the tanods, regional validators, and the local government of San Carlos for their cooperation. (PR)
